Download Mic Drop 1.0

The original version of Mic Drop was available on the Mac App Store and as a direct download from our website. The version on the App Store is still available, but we stopped selling a direct version from our website when we launched Mic Drop 2.0.

We think this will be a better user experience for most of our users. Now you don’t need to worry about licensing or write in to reset your key when you switch to a new Mac. It also frees us up to spend more of our time focused on building features you love. We’re a small team of two and this makes all the difference!

So the new version of Mic Drop is only available on the Mac App Store.

I bought the original version of Mic Drop from your website, can I get the App Store version for free?

Unfortunately no. There isn’t a way for us to migrate direct download users to the App Store version. You’ll need to purchase the new version of Mic Drop on the App Store.

Permissions for Mic Drop 1.0

Mic Drop 1.0 required keyboard input permissions to support double-tap shortcuts. We nixed them in version 2.0 since most users didn’t use them. This means that Mic Drop 2.0 doesn’t need to ask for any permissions, making for a better experience for most users.

If you’d like to use a double-tap shortcut, we have a workaround you can use!
